Tiny Heart Baby Hat is an easy knitting pattern with detailed step-by-step instructions. The pattern includes 3 sizes, from newborn up to 12 months.

The English pattern comes in two versions, one for knitting flat and one for knitting in the round, and you get both PDF files. Worked flat, the hat is knitted back and forth and seamed together at the end. Worked in the round, you switch to double-pointed needles or the magic loop technique when there are too few stitches on the needle. The heart motif is made with purl stitches.

Skill level: Easy

Needles:
3 mm (US 2.5) straight or circular needles for the rib
3.5 mm (US 4) straight or circular needles for the hat
For knitting in the round: 40 cm (16 in) circular needles, plus 3.5 mm (US 4) double-pointed needles or magic loop for the crown

Yarn requirements:
0–3 months: 35 g / approx. 80 yd
3–6 months: 40 g / approx. 92 yd
6–12 months: 50 g / approx. 115 yd
(yardage based on Drops Merino Extra Fine)

Yarn suggestions: Drops Merino Extra Fine, Debbie Bliss Rialto DK or Cascade 220 Superwash Merino

You can use any other yarn as long as you match the tension.

1 ball of Drops Merino Extra Fine = 50 g / 105 m (115 yd).

Tension:
22 stitches x 28 rows/rounds = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in) in stocking stitch on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles
